The Department of Applied Linguistics and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages

The Department of Applied Linguistics and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages is headed by Doctor of Pedagogy, Full Professor Oleg Tarnopolsky. The teaching staff of the Department includes one Full Professor, three Associate Professors, Candidates of Pedagogy and Philology, three Senior lecturers and sixteen lecturers.

The subjects taught by the Department are:

  • English Language Practice as the First Foreign Language
  • Spanish Language Practice as the Third Foreign Language
  • Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages;
  • Communicative Behavioural Patterns in English Speaking Countries
  • General English Languag
  • German Languag;

The Refresher Programme for foreign language teachers and instructors that includes such courses as

  • Contemporary Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages
  • Intensive Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages
  • Role Plays and Business Simulations in Teaching Foreign Languages
  • Innovative Technologies in Teaching Foreign Languages;
  • Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages for Specific Purposes

The Department teaches students from the Institute of International Communication, the Institute of International Economics, the Institute of Law and the Department of Psychology.

The principal direction of the Department’s research activities is «Optimization of Teaching Foreign Languages to Adult Students».
