Participants and Guests of the Third Session of the World  Nobel Congress in Economics
«The World Economy of the XXI Century: Cycles and Crises»

Dear friends !

I sincerely greet the participants and guests of the Congress, which is held for the third time in the hospitable land of Ukraine.
This event has become a milestone not only for  scientists and economists from our native Ukraine  but also for scientists from many countries.
I am convinced that the interesting topics that are scheduled for discussion will help to unite the efforts of the participants to address the common problems of our civilization and become a step towards understanding the laws governing the development of the world economy.
I wish you all the inspiration and original ideas.
President of Ukraine   Viktor Yanukovich

«The World Economy of the XXI Century: Cycles and Crises»

Dear friends!

I want to sincerely wish success to your high level assembly. The theme selected for discussion at the Congress is really important, because even now the world economy is experiencing the consequences of the latest cyclical crisis. Therefore, knowledge of the mechanism of the economic cycle, its governing factors and how to adapt to periodic shocks is of extreme practical importance at both the macro and micro levels.
It is no accident that a Congress bearing such a name should be taking place in Ukraine. After all, it is generally accepted that a significant contribution to the knowledge of economic cycles was made by the Ukrainian scientist  Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky.
For his work on the problem of economic growth, another of our countrymen, a graduate of Kharkov University, Simon Kuznets was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. I would like to believe that the revival among Ukrainian scientists and economists of scientific interest in the problems of economic dynamics and the high level of discussion at this scientific congress will serve as an impetus for new results which will gain international recognition.
The Congress has already become a traditional venue for discussion of urgent problems of the modern world economy, a place to freely voice bold assumptions and conduct rigorous scientific testing of the arguments in favor of this or that point of view. This approach is consistent with the spirit of the Nobel movement, within whose framework this Congress is held .

«The World Economy of the XXI century: Cycles and Crises»

Dear members of Congress!

I sincerely and heartily congratulate you on the opening of the Third Session of the World Nobel Congress in Economics.
This event is significant not only for the team at the University named after Alfred Nobel - the direct initiator and organizer of the Congress – but also for our city, region and Ukraine.
The economic forums that have taken place in our city in 2008 and 2010 clearly show the high scientific and economic, social and cultural potential of Dnipropetrovs’k, its scientists, researchers and students.
A scientific meeting of this level gives grounds to the assertion that the debate, discussion and proposals which will take place during the Congress will facilitate the implementation of a strategy to accelerate economic growth not only in Dnipropetrovs’k, but also in our region, nation and the international community as a whole.
I wish all participants in the Congress fruitful and meaningful activity, creative and successful meetings, significant scientific achievements, and to the guests of our city, who are visiting for the first time , bright and pleasant impressions of the unique beauty of Dnipropetrovs’k and the hospitality of its inhabitants.
Dnipropetrovs’k Mayor I. I. Kulichenko
